In progress City project

Reimagining the mall

This study will help guide future intensification of Mississauga areas will foster healthy growth and mixed-use communities.

About

Mississauga is growing and our communities are evolving. To ensure the healthy development of our City, we are creating policies to direct potential redevelopment and intensification at strategic areas.

The Reimagining the Mall project guides the long-term evolution of six areas anchored by the following indoor shopping malls:

  • Meadowvale Town Centre(External link)
  • Erin Mills Town Centre(External link)
  • South Common Centre(External link)
  • Sheridan Centre(External link)
  • Rockwood Mall(External link)
  • Westwood Square

The study helps to ensure that future intensification in these areas is done in a way that fosters healthy mixed-use communities. The purpose of the project is to make sure that land use policy is proactively in place if a landowner chooses to redevelop in the future.

Reimagining the Mall is led by the City of Mississauga in partnership with the Region of Peel(External link). A consultant team led by Gladki Planning Associates(External link), and supported by DTAH(External link) and urbanMetrics(External link), is providing specialized expertise in land use planning, policy development, urban design, and finance.
