Lakeview Village Parkland Public Engagement

The Lakeview Village Development is a 177-acre mixed-use development on the eastern edge of Mississauga. This waterfront property will have a significant amount of parkland that includes a planned waterfront park connecting Lakefront Promenade Park to the west and the Jim Tovey Lakeview Conservation Area to the east.

The City is seeking resident input for future parks at the Lakeview Village development. The City undertook the Lakeview Village Parks 2020 Public Engagement Survey to understand what features residents wanted to see prioritized in the future parks, and if the feedback gathered during previous public engagement sessions remains relevant. More than 1,300 residents across the city provided feedback through this survey. A summary document was prepared outlining key survey findings and next steps.

Building on responses from the Lakeview Village Parks 2020 Public Engagement Survey, the Preliminary Park Programming Plan includes proposed amenities within the parks.

June 2022 Update

The City conducted a second Lakeview Village Parks online survey. The survey was open from October to December 2021, following which the survey results were consolidated and analyzed. Thank you to all who participated and provided feedback on the proposed amenities. A summary document outlining key findings and recommendations is now available.

The City’s Inspiration Lakeview Master Plan reflects and identifies the community’s vision for these lands. This Master Plan was developed through extensive public consultation lasting over four years and provides a framework for the future development of the Inspiration Lakeview lands. The site is part of the City’s Official Plan, Local Plan Area—Lakeview, Waterfront Park Strategy Refresh (2019) and Cycling Master Plan (2018).

The industrial lands sat vacant for numerous years until, in 2018, Lakeview Community Partners Limited (LCPL) purchased the lands and began creating a vision and master plan for the site. There have been several public information sessions for these lands including four community engagement meetings led by LCPL between April 2018 and June 2019.

The LCPL has been working closely with the City to develop a vibrant live-work-play destination. The Lakeview Village Development is now at a stage where the City is seeking your input on its future parks. The City has been working with LCPL on the details of their parkland plan which provides a jumping-off point for the City-led park planning process.

Not everything proposed in the developer’s plan for parkland can be built with current available funding. Some proposed amenities require further support and may instead be identified as potential future work pending prioritization and this consultation process.
