Research Briefs

We have “Research Briefs” to share with you! We hope these are helpful in understanding the key topics to guide our future conversations with you and future policies for the Official Plan.

The six policy themes were identified in our report to the Planning and Development Committee on March 9, 2020.

You can find the Briefs here:

Each Brief talks about what is important in planning for our future city. COVID-19 has brought focus to some of these core city building matters such as the need for more space for people to gather, play, walk and cycle; more options for housing; and keeping jobs “local”.

We have also created a detailed technical appendix which extracts some of the key goals, actions and policy directions that will shape changes to the Official Plan (from provincial policies, Region of Peel studies, City of Mississauga Master Plans, etc.). There have been a lot of technical policy and planning studies undertaken to get to this point! You may have already contributed to one or more of these through the related community engagement processes at the time.

Now, we are moving forward from this strong foundational work to map new policies where needed.

We look forward to starting our conversations with you in Fall 2020!
