Official Plan Review
As Mississauga continues to evolve, so does our Official Plan.
The City’s Official Plan policies address important parts of city-building that affect everyone who lives and works in Mississauga, including transportation, housing, culture and heritage, the environment, and the economy.
The Official Plan addresses things like:
- where housing, industry, offices, shops, and roads should go
- which services and amenities (e.g. parks, schools, transit) are needed and where they will be located
- what parts of the city will be the focus for growth and what it will look like
- what must be considered for growth and development
Share Your Feedback!
The City is moving forward with the next phase of community engagement for the Official Plan Review and we need your input!
To date, staff have shared two sets of updated Official Plan draft policies with the community. The third and final set of policies – Bundle 3 – is now ready for feedback. Bundle 3 includes housing and land use policies that outline where the city will grow, enable more housing types in neighbourhoods, promote housing affordability and rental protection, update employment area policies and more!
To get involved:
- Review Bundle 3 policies below. See what’s new, what’s changed and add your thoughts using our commenting tool.
- Go over the presentation given at the May 16 community meeting.
Timeline
Please see the Timeline on the right side of this page to learn about past project milestones and future phases of the Official Plan Review.
Note that future phases of the Official Plan Review are impacted by new planning legislation introduced by the Province including Bill 23, the More Homes Built Faster Act and the newly proposed Provincial Planning Statement (PPS) and Bill 97, the Helping Home Buyers and Protecting Tenants Act. Both Bill 97 and the new PPS, if approved, may have significant impacts on the planning framework in Ontario and may alter the timeline to complete the Official Plan Review.
