Will the new condo development across Lakeshore W Rd adhere to the historical by-laws?
Thanks for reaching out. Only property within the Heritage Conservation District boundaries are subject to the plan. However, development plans adjacent to the district must ensure there is no negative impact on the district’s heritage attributes.
Why are we preserving homes that were not historically taken care of and are sick inside? What consideration has been given to the financial burden imposed on people to keep these houses? Zoning needs to be reflective of the geomorphic realities of the south part of the city including the high water table that erodes the foundation infrastructure of the homes. As a south resident, I have no issues with tearing down the past and building modern structures including those with high ceilings and what some people consider to be "monster homes". This is coming from someone who lives in a little bungalow that nearly bankrupted me to fix when I moved into it 6 years ago and still suffers from some other issues that are cost prohibitive to repair at this time. Its time to let go and create a modern community.
