About the project

The City’s Inspiration Port Credit Master Planning Framework (2015), Parks and Forestry Future Directions Master Plan (2019), Parks, Forestry & Environment Future Directions (2024), and Waterfront Parks Strategy Refresh (2019) reflect and identify the community’s vision for these lands and inform the future park designs.

The site’s industrial history includes brick manufacturing in the late 1800s and an oil refinery from 1932 to 1987. It is one of the first brownfield redevelopments of this scale in Mississauga. In addition to new parkland, the Brightwater development will include 2,955 housing units with 150 affordable housing units. Other uses will include retail, restaurants, office space and a potential elementary school.

Through a survey, the City was seeking input to understand what features residents wanted to see prioritized in the future parks at Brightwater Village, and if the feedback gathered during previous public engagement sessions remains relevant. More than 2,100 residents across the city provided feedback through this survey. A summary document has been prepared outlining key survey findings and next steps.

This was not your only opportunity to provide input through the City-led park planning process. There will be other opportunities to participate in the future through feedback on park designs as they evolve.
