When are fireworks permitted?

    You can use fireworks on private property without a permit only on designated holidays. Fireworks are permitted from dusk until 11 p.m. on Lunar New Year, Victoria Day, Canada Day, and Diwali and from dusk on New Year’s Eve until 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day. 

    To use fireworks on private property on any other day of the year, you must obtain a fireworks permit from Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services.


    What kinds of fireworks are permitted?

    Consumer fireworks, meaning low hazard fireworks generally used for recreation and that are classified under type F.1 of the Explosives Regulations, 2013, are permitted on designated fireworks holidays without a permit. 

    Where are fireworks permitted?

    Fireworks are permitted on private property that you own. Residents are not allowed to set off fireworks on a street, sidewalk, boulevard, public property such as a park, or any private property that is not their own, without a permit.

    How do I complain about non-permitted fireworks?

    Depending on where fireworks are set off, you can make a complaint to the City. To report fireworks located on:

    Private property, sidewalks, boulevards and residential roads
